San Carlo (5Star)

King Street West off Deansgate,M3 2WY. t: 0161 834 6226

A six minute walk from our Bloom Street Manchester Serviced Apartments. Walk up Bridge Street and it’s on your left.

This is without doubt the most popular restaurant in the whole of Manchester. Exquisite, authentic fine Italian dining, fresh seafood, superb service, great atmosphere and surroundings, this is the amazing San Carlo. They take the utmost care in their produce and fish supply. The waiters are all so friendly, the service impeccable the restaurant is faultless. Also the cost is not as high as you would expect for a restaurant in this class. It is advisable that you book for a Friday and Saturday evenings as it is always busy. The atmosphere is so good sometimes you have to shout to be heard…. talking of which this is also definitely the place to be seen as many of Manchester’s football elite choose to eat here. You will always be warmly greeted by Marcello the restaurant host and owner.

Piccalino

8 Clarence Street, Albert Square, M2 4DW. t: 0161 835 9860

Authentic, rich Italian food. Brilliant service and ambiance, attention to detail with a great menu. The Veal Milanese is a favourite of mine. You cannot ask for more than this Manchester favourite.

Rustica

On the corner of Blackfriars Street and Deangate.

Five minutes walk from our Manchester Spectrum Serviced apartment development. Walk out of Spectrum turn left, walk up Blackfriars into the city and its on your left.

This very friendly and welcoming small, family run Italian has been going for over thirty years. It is authentic and very reasonably priced, ideal for families. The kids will love the stone baked pizza and hearty lasagne. If you want simple Italian food, a place to relax without all the five star fuss then without doubt head for Rustica. We love it.

Restaurant Bar & Grill (5 Star)

above Panacea, John Dalton St, Manchester, M2 6JR t: 0161 8391999

A seven minute walks from our Bloom Street and Manchester Manchester Serviced Apartments. Walk up Bridge Street and cross the road over Deansgate, its on your right.

One of Manchester’s first contemporary restaurants. Still retains its modern stylish theme. The menu is always rotated keeping its edge. Never fails to impress and the surroundings are very cool in the first floor glass section. The ground floor bar area is a firm favourite with the professional set. The famous Panacea bar is located in the basement so this building really has it all.

Panacea

John Dalton Street, Manchester, M2 6JR t: 0161 833 0000

A seven minute walks from our Bloom Street and Deansgate Manchester Serviced Apartments. Walk up Bridge Street and cross the road over Deansgate, its on your right.

Although Panacea is famous for its bar the food is fantastic too. It has a thoroughly modern theme of dishes from around the world, a sort of Asian fusion mixed with western favourites. Booking a table to eat is a good way to guarantee your entry into the bar especially on a Saturday night when super busy.

Panacea has to be Manchester's most famous bar. At the time costing a cool £1m to fit out is still as popular as ever for the Manchester elite. If you are not known to the doormen I recommend you arrive no later than 10.30pm.

Stay at padhotels then eat Indian

Akbars (5Star)

Liverpool Road, off Deansgate, M3 4NQ t: 0161 834 8444

A three minute walk from our Deansgate Manchester Serviced Apartments. Simply walk out of the building, turn left down Liverpool Road and its on your left.

This is now an institution. You are not allowed to visit Manchester and not eat in this wonderful, modern, Indian restaurant. In my opinion it is not just Manchester’s best Indian restaurant but for food quality, taste, freshness, service and atmosphere, it is in Manchester’s top three. The waiters work so hard to look after you and always serve with a smile. You have to order the huge trademark Nan Bread it is literally hooked onto a vertical metal plinth, has to be seen! You will leave wondering just how good it is. Part of one of the fastest growing restaurant groups, I predict you will soon read about Akbars in the Financial Times. Parties of eight or more can book otherwise just turn up. The bar is very relaxing. Enjoy.

East Z East

Blackfriars Street, off Deansgate, M3 5BQ t: 0161 834 3500

Walk out of Spectrum Apartments turn left head up Blackfriars and in five minutes its on the left.

Their first restaurant can still be found along Princess street but in a bold move they took space in the Edge building with fantastic views over the river Irwell. This is excellent for Padhotels at Spectrum as it is only a five minute walk away. The décor is modern contemporary and the all important food is excellent. The service is with a smile you will have a great evening at East Z East.

Shimla Pinks

Dolefield Street, off Bridge Street t: 0161 831 7099

Walk out of Bloom Apartments turn left walk five minutes up Bridge Street its on the right adjacent to the New Figaro hair salon.

This was the first of its kind moving Indian cuisine from the suburb to the mainstream city restaurants. The food is still as good as ever well worth a visit.

Stay at padhotels then eat Chinese

Wings (5Star)

Queens Street, off Deansgate M3 5LN t: 0161 834 9000
Queen street is half way along Deansgate across the road from the landmark ultra modern glass Royal Bank of Scotland building.

This is no ordinary Chinese and unusual in that it is not in China Town. This almost gives it elitist status in that it is an excellent restaurant first and a Chinese second! This is where the football meets China as many of the premiership players eat here. The décor is both traditional and modern. You will definitely have to book for a Saturday evening. Both the service and food at this restaurant are five star the best you will find in a Chinese in the city. The attention to detail is all down to the owner Wing who is always on hand to welcome you.

Yang Sing

Princess Street, off Albert Square t: 0161 236 2300

The Yang Sing is probably the most famous Chinese restaurant in Manchester. It was one of the first to open and has now become an institution. The owner Gerry Yeung has been instrumental in developing China Town. Beautiful food with a great atmosphere.

Stay at padhotels then eat Thai

Chaophraya (5Star)

Chapel Walks, off Cross Street, M2 1HN t: 0161 832 8342
A few minutes from Deansgate and about a ten minute walk from our Bloom Street Apartments.

Chaophraya came from nowhere to be an instant success. Manchester had not experienced Thai food prepared to this high standard. The aroma and taste says it all. Again in one of my top three if you like authentic Thai food or you wish to try Thai for the first time then you must book and eat here.

Stay at padhotels then eat Steakhouse

Gaucho Grill (5Star)

St Mary’s Street, off Deansgate, M3 2LB t: 0161 833 4333
Down the side of House of Frazer about eight minutes walk from Bloom and Spectrum Apartments.

The Gaucho is famous throughout the UK and is also in London. The unique selling point here is that all the meat is from Argentina. You can choose all different cuts and sizes. If you like steak this has to be the best in the City. The décor is so stylish with its fur finish and the building used to be a small chapel. Quirky, filling, fun and great food….. you will not leave hungry.

Grill on the Alley

5 Ridgefield off, John Dalton Street t: 0161 833 3465
Across the road from Panacea and about ten minutes walk from Bloom and Spectrum Apartments.

A great menu well presented food with a laid back relaxed atmosphere. The speciality here is the cobe steaks. I believe that the cows are fed beer and massaged, quite a good life whilst it lasts! Great atmosphere and the service is excellent.

Stay at padhotels then eat Japanese

Sapporo Teppanyaki (5 Star)

Liverpool, Road off Deansgate t: 0161 839 4030
Simply walk out of our Deansgate Apartments turn left walk for a few minutes and its on your left. Next door to the Indian Akbars.

Amazing in every way. The highlight has to be the extremely talented chefs. They slice and dice and cook the food in front of you on a hotplate. They toss eggs in their hats and chicken in your open mouth. They juggle with their cooking utensils and make it all seem so easy. The menu and flavours are superb and the food super fresh. This is not just a meal out it truly is entertainment with great food. Well deserving my five star recommendation.

New Samsi

36 Whitworth Street M1 t: 0161 279 0022

There are now three Samsi restaurants in the city. Getting a great name for good honest authentic cuisine. Very tasty and well priced.

For the best City Centre Traditional Sunday lunch try the following restaurants. But you will need to book

Mr Thomas’s Chophouse

Cross Street, St Ann’s Sq t: 0161 832 2245
A ten minutes walk from our three apartment blocks. It is behind St Annes Church in St Annes Square. Both the Square and the Chophouse are well worth a visit.

It is called a Chophouse but really it is simply fine food. They serve amazing ‘posh’ fish and chips. Fantastic Sunday roast dinners and all your favourite puddings like spotted dick, sticky toffee pudding. Definitely a case for diet starts Monday. Very enjoyable on a Sunday but you will need to book in advance.

For an amazing Sunday lunch out of the city, try

The Merlin

Alderley Edge, SK9 7QL t: 016255 99959

Well worth the 25 minutes drive south the food here is sensational. This is not idle chat it really is some of the best food you will ever have. The setting is in an old country manor house. The décor is very new and contemporary but in a country style. Big open log fires in the winter and the walk to The Edge is also very near. The views from the Edge are superb and you can even see the Jodrel Bank Planet Observatory. You will need to book. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat and relax.
