Snow Patrol (27/11/2009)
Formed in Dundee in 1997, Snow Patrol released their latest album, Eyes Open in 2006. The number one selling album is a of collection of songs which more than makes good on the promise of its predecessor, 2004's two million selling Final Straw and unforgettable single Run. Snow Patrol released their debut album Songs For Polar Bears in 1998 to critical acclaim and won many fans with their strong live show. 2001's follow up When It's All Over We Still Have To Clear Up marked a strong move forward in musicianship while 2004's Final Straw was a more rock tinged affair. Snow Patrol's latest album, Eyes Open is a collection of beautiful powerful songs underscored by some of the most poignant and telling lyrics in rock. Frank, Sammy and Dean will be back in Manchester this Christmas spreading their own style of festive cheer as Christmas With The Rat Pack - Live From Las Vegas comes to the Palace Theatre, Manchester. The show is the seasonal edition of The Rat Pack - Live From Las Vegas, which ran at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, the Strand (now the Novello) and the Savoy in London’s West End for four years, gaining a 2004 Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment. Since it finished its run in the capital, the show has been touring the UK. Christmas With The Rat Pack - Live From Las Vegas celebrates the talent of world-renowned singers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr, who became famous for their glamorous careers as live entertainers at The Sands resort in Las Vegas in the 1950s and 60s. This festive production mixes songs from the era with traditional tunes in a line-up that includes Baby It’s Cold Outside, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Let It Snow Let It Snow, White Christmas and Auld Lang Syne. A 15-piece orchestra accompanies the cast. There is a 2.30pm matinee on the Wednesday. Tickets are available from Friday 21st August 2009 from 10am.
A Christmas Chuckle (03/12/2009)
In an adaptation of Charles Doughnut's "A Christmas Chuckle," Paul & Barry (The Chuckle Brothers) go on a fantasy adventure meeting characters and ghosts from a different time! The year is eighteen hundred and frozen to hecky thump! Or is it? The miserable miser Ebenezer Sneezer isn't looking forward to Christmas. He never does!! In fact the only thing he does like at this time of year is humbugs! You can often hear him shouting 'Humbugs' as he goes on the search for them. However, what he doesn't know is that he's about to get a visit from some ghosts as they try to show him the error of his ways, and teach him that Christmas is a very special time. They arrive just before Christmas Eve to hear him shouting at the butcher, "Turkey's aren't just for Christmas!" And then to the corner toy shop, "Put your prices up!" He's never had a charitable thought in his life. But he's about to go on a journey of redemption!
One Night of Queen (04/12/2009)
